Mental Health Resources

We (the producers of Life Beyond Christine) take mental health seriously. We also know that navigating support can feel confusing, overwhelming, or discouraging at times. With this in mind, below are some resources that may help support you or someone you care about.

We encourage you to find what feels right for you. If you feel uncomfortable with a service or provider you’re currently using, trust your instincts — you are always allowed to seek an alternative.

If you are in immediate danger or feel unable to keep yourself safe, please contact your local emergency number or go to your nearest emergency department.

A note from the filmmakers

Life Beyond Christine is based on real experiences. And as in the film, the real-life individuals behind the story also went on to survive and thrive.

Know that you are not alone. Connection helps us heal. There are people who want to support you — and yes, this includes therapists.

We want to stress that Life Beyond Christine is not anti-therapy. The film seeks to hold those in positions of power accountable, acknowledging the harm that can occur when authority is misused. At the same time, we underline the importance of reaching out for support while being mindful about who you place your trust in.

It can be easy to give our power away, especially to those who hold credentials or appear all-knowing. Trust your intuition. It matters.

“Power is a dangerous thing. Be careful that you don’t abuse it or let it make a tyrant of you.”
— Louisa May Alcott
